Grist Of The Mill!!!!

In 1943, Winston Churchill said “The empires of the future will be empires of the mind”. How true. A few yrs back, the world was running out of jobs. Graduates filed in the hundreds to get a job as rubbish collectors. However, the current situation is direct opposite. We are now in a crisis of diminishing talent. The % of the workforce is due to drop in a couple of yrs and there are not enough replacements to go around. When I say talent, I don’t just mean people who score high GPA’s or are hardworking. They possess special skills or they have a knack for the job. With thus current situation, the government should come out from it’s hole and embrace the talents that are being snatched up every yr.
The quota sys reserves about 50% of the places for designated ppl. Most of em either have no interest in the course their given or they could not cope. In short, they are excess baggage. No, im not saying that ALL of em are inferior, it’s just that MOST of them are. It might be the fact that they are privileged and pampered by the government thus they are apathetic bout their edu. Heck, who would give a damn when you’re able to live off the government?
It’s bad enough that they waste seats, it’s worse when other students who are brighter, smarter and more intelligent could not get seats just because they don’t a bin in their name. These talents are neglected and unappreciated. So they feel down and sad and ultimately betrayed. And when foreign uni’s approach them with open arms, they jump to them like a lost kid who found his parents. And for the sake of these argument, these talented ppl graduate at the top of the class, they wont return to work here, they’ll contribute their skills to foreign companies which contributes to foreign countries. Now, we all know who loses out don’t we?
What has to be done is, for the quota not to be eliminated – that would make those privileged feel not so special anymore now wont we?- but for it to be reduced. By how much, should be decided by the gov but the reduction shouldn’t be less than 10%. It’s high time that the gov starts to acknowledge the fact that it needs more talent than shallow and apathetic people to spur the countries development.
Intelligent thought and pragmatism is needed to approach this matter. But what can I expect from ppl for are thinking of licensing turtle eggs (which are endangered) in a pretext of reducing the number of eggs being sold and to reduce poaching. But hey, what do I know? Im just a racist bas***d!!!! Cheers!!!
