This is a hate crime. Their motive is not to steal money or valuables but to beat her up and to punish her for her dressing.

This is what I feel after watching the video. I believe these two guys are crazy. After checking her out, you can clearly see their heads moving up and down, one can only guess what was going through their mind. They proceeded with the brutal and mindless assault of an unarmed and vulnerable person.

Is it because they deem her dressing to exposed? Did she dress inappropriately? What were they thinking? If it was just to steal, they wouldnt need to assault her. They could easily overpower her and run away with the purse.

So this is clearly something different. And for it to be happening wantonly without much care about the CCTV present, its as though they believe they wont be caught.

This isnt a petty crime and the police should not treat it as such. This is much more serious.

Why I think Malaysia will stay mediocre

I had some itch in my brain to write this opinion piece. Wait, all posts are just opinions anyway. Redundant statement. As i curse myself for not merely thinking about that but actually allowed my fingers to type it, I began to wonder where did I learn this self-discipline and shame. Granted, it does take one to know discipline and to know shame to feel remorse after saying something ridiculous.

As I am away from the city I was born and raised, I can only read on the news and rumours to keep myself up-to-date on the happenings of my country and city. I troll themalaysianinsider.com and thestar.com.my that a loyal dog waiting on its masters. Refreshing the pages whenever I feel my screen is not too vulnerable to ghosting eyes or when I  dont give a nickle if my colleagues doubts im working or passing my time.

Air pollution index that is much more relaxed than those limits set by our tiny neighbour. 1MDB, Bombs blasting ATM machines. Falling signboards flattening a car with three persons. People demanding Penang to be returned to Kedah. 1MDB, Ministers telling me I dont belong in this country and I should go back to China. Minister telling me GST ay 6% is good. Ministers telling me toll hikes are good for the country. Ministers showing they signed incredulous deals with Highway concessionaires. One should really check the ownership of these and publish them online. Ministers telling me to not to insult leaderships, even if its a lame duck leadership who have failed at all levels. Have I mentioned 1MDB? Ministers telling me that if im so unsatisfied, I can leave the country to go back to tiongshan. Do not mind the fact that I dont know where tiongshan is.

SO where do i begin? If I am to elaborate on each of these items and items which I have not stated, I could publish a book. Hmmmm, maybe I should. I shall name it "Mediocre Writings of a Mediocre Malaysian Engineer".

Contrary to what my ministers kept telling me, I still identify myself as a Malaysian first when i'm overseas. They could think I'm a Malay or that i'm Chinese but the first think I will be made known is that I'm Malaysian.

Hence, I am insulted. And I am deeply trouble by the fact that I am thinking of absconding from this country. Legally of course, which means I have to look for employment. I am insulted because for generations my family has been rooted in Old Klang Road. I am insulted because my family made its fortune when Mr Lim was mending straw shoes and subsequently lost it before the hotel on the mountain was created. To shoo me away and to tell me to go back to a place where I have not heard, much less seen, is to deny the contributions of my forefathers to the industry and development of this small little part of KL when it was still only a backwater.

We are Malaysia ladies and gentleman. A potpourri of flavours, spices and ingredients. Hence, to maintain power, it is detrimental to keep each flavour jarred individually and to the show to each flavour and it is prominent. By putting on a show that Minister is a champion of the major flavour, he can be assured that he will be backed. Nevertheless, for this segregation and separation to be successful, there is one key ingredient that is the major enabler.

Education.

By keeping the general masses intellectually deprived. By promoting religion and religiosity, those in power can easily rule over the general masses no matter how much discontent is shown by certain sectors of the masses. Solely because of numbers. The people who realize or assumed to be in the know is a small % in comparison to the general masses as a whole.

This is why I think WE will remain mediocre for the foreseeable future.

Rally? Oops there goes your money

Today the guburdenment announced toll hikes to major highways in and around the klang valley. There is little doubt that the more prosperous should be taxed to support projects that would have a multiplier effect.

Multiply what?

So what is the justification of raising the toll fee at this time? The timing is so noxious that are citizens really the first priority? Or is now the time to fill up the coffers of the guburdenment?
But then, why does the guburdenment need money so desperately? Is there a hole draining the finances?

The toll hikes will range from 30 cents to RM3. Which is a stupendous figure if you consider the amount of traffic that passes through each toll. I am guessing millions daily if we add them up. That is considering that the same amount of vehicles uses the tolled road after this increase.

Nevertheless, I think that most people working and living in the klang valley will absorb this increase and continue to use the tolled roads simply because there is no alternative. MRT is 4 years away with the penetration zone more politically motivated than traffic orientated. The other train lines are only now having a resemblance of a train system. Forget efficient.

However there are rumours swirling around that even train fares will be hiked! So are the citizens really first priority? All actions seems to beg to differ.

Alas, it is only the urbanites that bears the brunt of these increases and hikes. Sub-urban and rural folks can be expected to be oblivious to these as they are not even remotely affected. Punishment for coming out to rally?

Power plants and power plants

Its absurd that "explanations" were given to foreign businessman but not to one own's citizens who is constantly demanding for it. Are these "explanations:" fishing tactics just to pull in more bait or citizens does not have the right to know?

At the right things are going, of course it can be settle by years ends. When a company is selling its assets to boost cash flow, to be able to publish accounts in the black there is only one reasonable end to be expected.

The closure of the investment vehicle for a "profit".

When all the power assets are sold. be it to foreigners or locals. Mind you that a sovereign country wouldnt allow too high a percentage of foreign own power plants. Protectionism at its best. However, maybe our heads are very liberal minded and are firm believers of free markets. That's why for the first time maybe, power plants may be majority owned by foreigners!

Cash is king.

Selling all these assets, will provide some cash to fill in the hole. If Edra successfully lists on the stock market, you can be certain that he will have enough to "proof" that he resolved the matter.

However, what can be done? filthy lawmakers without backbone dancing to the tune of his harp. Singing his every word, breathing his every fart. He is buying time and with society behind shallow and possess a short term memory, he could even be hailed as a hero this time next year.

I disagree with what you said, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. That is the basis of a democratic country where free speech is a right not a luxury.

But if we are to practice that and to encourage people to keep running their mouths unchecked not limited to idiotic responses but racial slurs as well as blatant threats are we not keep ourselves hinged? We are indeed caught in a catch 22.

Everyone should have the freedom to say things but everyone should know and should practice a degree of self censorship. Especially in these days of wanton prosecution and selected persecution it does make one wonder, why some are able to say things and some can't.

Double standards, double standards everywhere.

Have you ever had that one person in class who likes to tell on other students? "Teacher teacher he said a bad word!" Now this person is always on the teacher's side and when the teacher isn't present, he is keeping a eye out. When the teacher gets back, you know that his mouth is gonna wag like a dog's tail. SO what happens when the teacher's pet slips up and said something bad himself?

More often than not, the teacher will it pass. Ahhh, an honest mistake by this young boy. He don' t mean any harm. Things he said, although heard by other students and in this age, recorded and posted on social media was shot down and dismissed by a simple wave of hand.

Lack of evidence it seems. I guess undoctored recordings and tens of eye witness is insufficient evident. So what becomes of rape cases which requires 4 persons as witness? I guess there might be more rapist rampaging around town with these positive feedback coming from the very people who is supposed to be acting as a check.

Sometimes when you see a shallow minded person. I do know know if I should feel angry that education did not manage to educate or laugh at their naivety and simple mindedness. Telling people to join the army to defend the country. Making a mockery of their love for their country and dedication to king and country by saying only by becoming a soldier can one fight for ones country shows that sometimes people in position and wealth might not be the brightest or the best in judgement.

Wearing a yellow shirt is not stupid. It is a symbolic act by thousands and hundreds of thousands hoping for a better future. Just because one is born into a high civil position whereby one is unable to break away from the mould that you were casted in does not make others a fool for trying.

I disagree with that you said, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. Everyone's entitle to their opinion, all the more so those "stupid comments". It creates a good laugh. But after the laughter subsides, there will be pity. Pity for people like you who thinks that joining the army is the only way to serve the country.

A country is made up of  governments and its citizens. Neither can exist with the other. So do not fool yourself into thinking the army is the only outlet to show  your loyalty to the country. Because we are disengaged, we are able to see more clearly than you the state of where we are and where we might be heading.

We as a country was meant for so much more. So much more. But we were derailed, and it's people like you that keeps us derailed, If you did such a good job patrolling the borders, thousands of rohingya's would still be alive. So get off your high horse, you couldn't even perform your duty fully yet you judge others.

Survey respondents are aged 18 and above, covering all races from both rural and urban areas.

There's something seriously wrong with this statistics, half truths and incomplete statements don't make a good reliable statistical survey Conducted by Merdeka center, i think it's just regurgitating what's been scripted.

First of all, we were meant to be much more, ask anyone and you will hear the same thing. We are meant to be so much more as a nation, as a country but we are where we are due to ineptness, callousness and uncontrolled donations.

I believe there is something wrong with the results. Choosing to believe otherwise would show that the majority of people are really lacking in education. But then again, our education is world class with hundred and thousands of foreign students with or without quality. It isnt part of the criteria. As long as they are not citizens, they are foreign and choosing to come here proves that our education is world class.

A New Path

I have embarked on a new path, deviating from the original route in hope that It will be a faster way to achieve one of my goals.

Remarking on one of the comments, "Its surprising for one to be able to get to site in so short a time".
It is, and I expect it to be as challenging as it is exciting. This will be my first experience as an Oil and Gas Field Civil Engineer at Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Project.

The site is many miles away from the capital which is the nearest big city, Hanoi. It is even further away from the famous city of Ho Chi Minh, 13 hours of journey by car.

Agreeing to come here is akin to baptism by fire. I have zero experience of management less so with site and construction. And I will be the only Field Civil Engineer here. My mentor will be leaving in a little less than 2 weeks.

Me arriving at site 2 days ago. Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst.

I couldn't Believe it

Could it be that i'm the only one online at this moment? However I wouldnt have enough time to fully utilize the speed.

Shall have another test on sunday when more people should be connected to the line.

4200 days or 11 and a half years.

If I have 42 dollars and somehow, i dropped it all into a pool. Now I have to blow dry them, due to my tight schedule, I can only blow dry 1 cent a day.

Running some simple math, it would take me 4200 days or 11.506 years to finish blow drying them all.

Small problem?

Hairy Rose and the Public Stones

Hairy rose and the publics stones seems to be playing fairly nicely. The prequel seems to have garnered a strong following. Many people are excited by merely a rumour of the movie, when news shows a glimpse of it, the public goes wild with excitement.

People are demanding more. They want more and they want it now. But the director seems to have another plan and his marketing team seems to be fully in control of the publicity. Giving us a bit here and a little there, they keep us on our toes. Wanting, thirsting, grasping for more.

It's panning out real nice. We just hope that the people that matter gets to see it and hope they realise that enough is simply enough. They have taken so much, how much more? 

I buy, he sell, I get

2 years ago, a seller approached me and offer me his exotic Magic The gathering cards for RM 246. I know for a fact that the market price for his deck is only RM100. However, he told me that IF i bought it from him for RM246, he would pay me RM146 back.

Now my creditors dont mind me buying Magic cards as long as they are exotic or rare. So i took the sellers offer. RM246 and in turn I got RM146. Now i'm definitely keeping my RM146 even though it belongs to my creditors who loaned me the money in the first place.

But hey, if the seller doesnt say, no body knows and i'm RM146 richer.

Currently, the cards are worth RM291. I'm planning to sell it. And im gonna return the money to my creditors as they are due. I'm gonna tell them I earned them RM 45.

So all is cool??

Rise and rise again until lambs become lions. Some people seem to be believing this to the bone. Accusations flying left right and centre and yet unflinchingly holding on.

This could be a classic case of heads I lose, tail you win. Whereby in a lose-lose situation, a glimmer a hope shines in holding on rather than waiving immunity and risk persecution.

What comes next?

Contagion and damage control, sending out hunting dogs to castigate and chastise voices.  That has always been the way isnt it? Instead of progressing, we seem to be stagnant and in a more perverse view, deteriorating.

Unwilling to heed voices of concern, unrepentant to deeds committed and arrogant in maintaining innocence. Irony of coupling arrogance and innocence - the morphing of something naive and pure into something sinister - to be spun and fed to the masses.

But would spinning stories work?

Spinning when the world of public opinion is against you, when the masses knows what's up. They may not know the whole story but what impression was made, is made. Hence it appears to be jumping into the hole and thyself dug.

Each his own Battles

I'm supposed to lying on my bed trying to sleep but an itch rose me from my supposed slumber. An itching for a literary genius piece. How ambitious. I was never meant to be a write, too analytical for the said profession. Besides, I dont fancy having vacillating attitudes or alcoholic ambition.

What keeps me awake. What keeps you awake? The fear of the unknown or the reluctance to choose between known unknowns and the known knows. We each have our own battles which we think only we understand, only we can and should suffer for it. In silence, in solitude. Maybe? Maybe that's a morbid view of things.

Pecuniary matters seem to be larger than life itself as we grow older. Yet wisdom has it that people grow wiser when they grow older. Does letting money matters engulf your life a wise choice? But who are we to go against the tide? The wave of society does not suffer you, unless you are in a position to make them suffer you. So as we are currently in these wretched plank drifting in the ocean, we are but driftwood waiting to be planted on our destined shores before being able to grow. In the mean time, we drift as destined, as the winds oblige none but the whispers of fate.

The time shall come.

Caesar did not wait 20 years to wage a 7 year war in Gaul for Pompey to be declared Dictator. No, Caesar had no choice but to drift with the flow of destiny, to be the man who will shape the future course of Europe to what it is today.

We each have our own battles to fight, but maybe we aren't that alone after all.

What are we hoping?

     What are we hoping for? It is a little over-optimistic to say that anything substantial will be achieved but do we consigned ourselves to the constraint set by others or do we strive to be more than what these people deemed us worthy?

     Do the poor remain poor because of choice or are they poor because society has branded them poor and thus consigned them to be poor. I do not believe for a second that if the poor was given a chance to alleviate himself from poverty that he would not do so. If society was to extend a helping hand, to try to lift the poor soul up from the trench and dirt and to show him that there is still hope and all is not lost. I believe that he will clamour for that reach and with strength to pull himself back up.

     Stories of rags to riches are awe-inspiring and we perk up our ears in earnest to listen to stories told and retold by friends, family and strangers of their adventure and journey to their current status. We return to our beds, blood flowing freely and body and mind coming as one to the thought that what happened to them, we could do the same. Then we sleep. And the next day we lose sight of what we hoped, what we dreamed. Days past and that eagerness and activity is drowned out by the sounds of the world.

     What are we hoping for? That the lives of millions are not decided by the inept few. That we were allowed, to have a choice and not to merely bow and accept what seems to be and to take hold of our own lives and of our country to decide where do we want to stand. Am I consigned to be that beggar on the street hoping for cents and a miracle dollar or will I choose to stand up by myself, tall and proud, to the constraints set by myself?

    I am an electorate and I have a choice.
