Birthday Dinner

Mushy alert! I've toned it down way way way alot. But somethings just had to be said. Like I love yie sue. ;)

On last Friday, we drove to Penang island to a restaurant which she didnt want to tell me but she wasnt really sure of the road. Somehow we managed to get there anyway. Anyhow, she brought me here:

At batu Ferringhi as the name suggests,

Because she wanted to snap pictures where she looked really good.

She's so happy, it's her profile pic!

Ferringhi Garden on first sight looks like a forest, They even sport a bar surrounded with trees. Talk about convenient bollywood dancing when you're drunk.

George of the jungle's bar.
The ambience was on seating very good. It was calm an peaceful and romantic too. Dim lights with no noise or loud music. It was perfect to chit chat and have the world to ourselves.

It was so dim that they had to put a reading light on my menu:

Studying menu, boy im nerdy.

I would write an essay on how good that place looks but it'll just bore me to death.

After going through that thick menu, it took us about 20 mins to decide on what we wanted. Wagyu beef was very tempting. But at 200 per plate, it was sorta outta reach...... for now.

First to be served was Cream of Wild Mushroom

Wild Mushroom went roaming elsewhere but in the soup.

To me, it was rubbish. Not very creamy and it didnt taste like mushroom. Maybe it was a blend of tastelessness with some crutons just to add to the non-flavour. She liked it though. Actually it wasnt too shabby. It is acceptable if you wanted a non-mushroom mushroom soup. =)

I had for myself a Norwegian Seafood Soup.

Delicious!!!!

A little on the sour side but it was very appetizing. The soup had lots of prawns and salmon but it blended well with the taste. You could seriously taste prawn, salmon and butter with every sip you take. The taste however is not ordinary. I recommend this to those who like seafood and can accept weird things - in a good way.- Does not apply to Sue since she prefers the mushroom still.

Coming together with the soup is some bread.

Only 4? We manged to only finish 2!

4 Slices to be exact. But they will almost blow your brains out when u take a bite with a mixture of the garlic aioli and tomato salsa. Fresh tomato and aromatic garlic. Highly recommended. Besides, you take bite, she takes a bite.

After debating between steak & salmon and cod, Sue finally went for the Grilled Alaskan Black Cod fish.

Fresh and succulent.

The portion was huge and baby could only manage three quarters of it. The fish was fresh and succulent. It was juicy and grilled to perfection. It does not crumble when held by a fork but it is still soft in your mouth. Cod lovers please go for it.

Mine was WoW. It was air-flown in from..... somewhere.

Tender and Juicy.

220g of medium-rare succulent Steak! Eat the way to my heart! The meat was tender but it was a little too rare especially towards the middle. The taste was good but it was better with some black pepper sauce. Which the waiter will bring when you're about to finish. Ask for it !!!

The baked potato looks normal in the picture. That was before they added sour cream sprinkling some beef flakes on top. Every mouthful will bring a smile to your face. It's that delicious!!

Everything was well planned and went smoothly as Sue hoped.. i believe. It was so that the restaurant even knew it was my birthday. A couple of waiters started to gather nearby and suddenly the PA goes off with a birthday song!

Give me that cake!!!!

Free cake!!! Brownies with ice-cream. We were so full by now that we couldn't even finish that slice of brownies.

For all that i've done for the last 22 years, and i admit i did make quite a many mistakes but i think i must've done something right.

My woman.

How else can i be so lucky to have you in my arms?
