Today is the 24th of september, another person's birthday somewhere. 38 minutes ago at my watch was my birthday and although it's much a cause celebre` last time-well as recent as last yr-, this time i wanted it to be different.

Call me crazy, call me blind but i had no intention of celebrating my birthday this year which explains why i didnt tell anyone in my school bout it, not a hint not a whisper. This feeling of vacuity although ephemeral has not left me yet eventhough i've exhausted much energy in trying to banish it.

I've acted as normal as possible, bringing myself about like it's just another ordinary day eventhough, that in my head the words "IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY" kept on blaring and blaring.

And i succeeded!

Alas, who would've though chris' call would lead my friends to suspect there is smth on today. I had nowhere to run, lecturer was in and he was gonna start the class. I didnt realize i said that many thanks which led to tonite.

My friends were acting normal after that and i didnt suspect that they suspected smth was amiss.

Till...

Till it was 1930hrs when i went to the cafe to grab some grub. Random ppl wished me happy birthday and when i inquire how they knew,:

xxx: Hey, Happy birthday, it's your birthday today rite?
me : *thinks to self* HOW THE HECK U KNOW?
me : * smiles... hahaha, yea! How did u know?
xxx: Oh, civil fellas told me!
me : *thinks to self*Oh crap, they know!!
me : Yea thanx ya. Bye!

I went on to hv my dinner with jia hui and head on back to my room with no particular incident. Then came a msg from teik tzuan saying to go to the cafe later at 11.30 to discuss maths. WTH, must discuss maths so late?

Anyway that time came and went but at 11.40 teikz finally called to go. Oh, before i left, my roommate abruptly left the room without saying anything and that increased my suspicion that smth was up. And when i met teikz, he wasnt carrying any maths or stuff and when i asked him bout it he said he gave to clement who stays in a block 400 metres away. Good job in increasing my suspicion yet again.

When i met my assignment group, they werent doing maths! They were holding geology papers, some list and some other random papers. WHAT HAPPENED TO MATHS? They then started saying things which confirm 100% that there were ppl behind the basin. *Sry, much experience in trying to surprise ppl*

But boy oh boy was i surprised! Almost my whole school came for my cause celebre` which i didnt even wanted them to know! 30 maybe more of them took time off from studying for tmrw's tests to hide behind that wall of basin to surprise me with a cake and which is more important to me, their presence!

I was really touched, but i gotta defend myself here. I WASNT GONNA CRY! I was very touched tho and very happy too. =)

They all sang happy birthday and made my nose eat cake. I asked my nose if he liked it and wth, he told me he enjoyed every bit of it. Should i start stuffing my nose with cake now? Well it's payback time since i hv a rule that if i get creamed, im gonna get as many ppl creamed as well. I tried to chase but damn legs wouldnt run so i got only a handful. =(

I promise more next year!

Seriously, forcing me to give a speech is like digging ur own grave. I could go on and on even after you guys applaud to ask me to shut up and i can still go on. But i kept it short, events like this are not for lengthy speeches and all you guys hv to hear is my voice of appreciation and joy that my nose could eat cake.

I found out later that my group of friends took the trouble to call yee hui -who didnt get back to them-. Psst, clement.. she prolly didnt know either! After that they called a senior to check the list for my ic to confirm. And confirm they did at 1600 hrs. I only knows you guys for what, 2 months? And you guys went through all that trouble to celebrate my birthday which i didnt even wanted to be known? I didnt expect it! I hv 10 brothers which i went through thick and thin with and i dont even expect them to rmbr, altho most of them did! =) What hv i done to deserve this? What hv i done to deserve the company of all of you tonite? Well, i guess i must've done smth rite. XD
