May not be

He stares ahead, but he cannot see,

The world’s a mist, a fog through trees,

Embraced with luck,

The goddess of joy,

What you see, may not be.

A thread there was,

With time, effort and love,

Spun,

How strong it holds, how strong it looks!

Fragility of life, it was unknown,

A dubious face, a non-chalant face,

Masks the storm beneath the calm.

What you see, may not be.

Hail the world, the happiness beget,

Tomorrow lived, tomorrow’s day,

The eyes that bore see not the light,

But only the desire, the yearning.

The heart craves, the mind refuse,

The war within rages un-defused,

Hail the world, the sorrows beget,

A greying sky, a thinning thread.

Poetry for the soul,

Was what this meant to be,

What it achieve, that may not be.

It just may not be.
