Sometimes when you see a shallow minded person. I do know know if I should feel angry that education did not manage to educate or laugh at their naivety and simple mindedness. Telling people to join the army to defend the country. Making a mockery of their love for their country and dedication to king and country by saying only by becoming a soldier can one fight for ones country shows that sometimes people in position and wealth might not be the brightest or the best in judgement.
Wearing a yellow shirt is not stupid. It is a symbolic act by thousands and hundreds of thousands hoping for a better future. Just because one is born into a high civil position whereby one is unable to break away from the mould that you were casted in does not make others a fool for trying.
I disagree with that you said, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. Everyone's entitle to their opinion, all the more so those "stupid comments". It creates a good laugh. But after the laughter subsides, there will be pity. Pity for people like you who thinks that joining the army is the only way to serve the country.
A country is made up of governments and its citizens. Neither can exist with the other. So do not fool yourself into thinking the army is the only outlet to show your loyalty to the country. Because we are disengaged, we are able to see more clearly than you the state of where we are and where we might be heading.
We as a country was meant for so much more. So much more. But we were derailed, and it's people like you that keeps us derailed, If you did such a good job patrolling the borders, thousands of rohingya's would still be alive. So get off your high horse, you couldn't even perform your duty fully yet you judge others.

Trust in the wrong places. lol
Many Malaysians put their trust in the authorities and are ready to give up some freedom for the sake of stability, making them more vulnerable to manipulation by those in power, a survey shows. - See more at:
http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/malaysians-still-think-the-government-knows-best-poll-finds
Survey respondents are aged 18 and above, covering all races from both rural and urban areas.
There's something seriously wrong with this statistics, half truths and incomplete statements don't make a good reliable statistical survey Conducted by Merdeka center, i think it's just regurgitating what's been scripted.
First of all, we were meant to be much more, ask anyone and you will hear the same thing. We are meant to be so much more as a nation, as a country but we are where we are due to ineptness, callousness and uncontrolled donations.
I believe there is something wrong with the results. Choosing to believe otherwise would show that the majority of people are really lacking in education. But then again, our education is world class with hundred and thousands of foreign students with or without quality. It isnt part of the criteria. As long as they are not citizens, they are foreign and choosing to come here proves that our education is world class.

A New Path
I have embarked on a new path, deviating from the original route in hope that It will be a faster way to achieve one of my goals.
Remarking on one of the comments, "Its surprising for one to be able to get to site in so short a time".
It is, and I expect it to be as challenging as it is exciting. This will be my first experience as an Oil and Gas Field Civil Engineer at Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Project.

The site is many miles away from the capital which is the nearest big city, Hanoi. It is even further away from the famous city of Ho Chi Minh, 13 hours of journey by car.
Agreeing to come here is akin to baptism by fire. I have zero experience of management less so with site and construction. And I will be the only Field Civil Engineer here. My mentor will be leaving in a little less than 2 weeks.
Me arriving at site 2 days ago. Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst.

4200 days or 11 and a half years.
If I have 42 dollars and somehow, i dropped it all into a pool. Now I have to blow dry them, due to my tight schedule, I can only blow dry 1 cent a day.
Running some simple math, it would take me 4200 days or 11.506 years to finish blow drying them all.
Small problem?

Hairy Rose and the Public Stones
Hairy rose and the publics stones seems to be playing fairly nicely. The prequel seems to have garnered a strong following. Many people are excited by merely a rumour of the movie, when news shows a glimpse of it, the public goes wild with excitement.
People are demanding more. They want more and they want it now. But the director seems to have another plan and his marketing team seems to be fully in control of the publicity. Giving us a bit here and a little there, they keep us on our toes. Wanting, thirsting, grasping for more.
It's panning out real nice. We just hope that the people that matter gets to see it and hope they realise that enough is simply enough. They have taken so much, how much more?

I buy, he sell, I get
2 years ago, a seller approached me and offer me his exotic Magic The gathering cards for RM 246. I know for a fact that the market price for his deck is only RM100. However, he told me that IF i bought it from him for RM246, he would pay me RM146 back.
Now my creditors dont mind me buying Magic cards as long as they are exotic or rare. So i took the sellers offer. RM246 and in turn I got RM146. Now i'm definitely keeping my RM146 even though it belongs to my creditors who loaned me the money in the first place.
But hey, if the seller doesnt say, no body knows and i'm RM146 richer.
Currently, the cards are worth RM291. I'm planning to sell it. And im gonna return the money to my creditors as they are due. I'm gonna tell them I earned them RM 45.
So all is cool??
Apple sharpie better shut his mouth cause it just shows how often than not they are imbeciles.

Spin me right round doctor.
Rise and rise again until lambs become lions. Some people seem to be believing this to the bone. Accusations flying left right and centre and yet unflinchingly holding on.
This could be a classic case of heads I lose, tail you win. Whereby in a lose-lose situation, a glimmer a hope shines in holding on rather than waiving immunity and risk persecution.
What comes next?
Contagion and damage control, sending out hunting dogs to castigate and chastise voices. That has always been the way isnt it? Instead of progressing, we seem to be stagnant and in a more perverse view, deteriorating.
Unwilling to heed voices of concern, unrepentant to deeds committed and arrogant in maintaining innocence. Irony of coupling arrogance and innocence - the morphing of something naive and pure into something sinister - to be spun and fed to the masses.
But would spinning stories work?
Spinning when the world of public opinion is against you, when the masses knows what's up. They may not know the whole story but what impression was made, is made. Hence it appears to be jumping into the hole and thyself dug.
So what comes next? We shall have to wait for the hunting dogs to lie down quiet and see what foments next.

What's simple is simple
Actually it's really very simple. Why do engineers have to over-think things that are so obvious?
Maybe they are trying too hard to appear smart and able to see the bigger picture.
DUDE... it's the action of recording time. It's not time saving actions, it's not what to do to save time. It's what to do about the action of recording time.
And this I have to say, I'm disappointed.

Each his own Battles
I'm supposed to lying on my bed trying to sleep but an itch rose me from my supposed slumber. An itching for a literary genius piece. How ambitious. I was never meant to be a write, too analytical for the said profession. Besides, I dont fancy having vacillating attitudes or alcoholic ambition.
What keeps me awake. What keeps you awake? The fear of the unknown or the reluctance to choose between known unknowns and the known knows. We each have our own battles which we think only we understand, only we can and should suffer for it. In silence, in solitude. Maybe? Maybe that's a morbid view of things.
Pecuniary matters seem to be larger than life itself as we grow older. Yet wisdom has it that people grow wiser when they grow older. Does letting money matters engulf your life a wise choice? But who are we to go against the tide? The wave of society does not suffer you, unless you are in a position to make them suffer you. So as we are currently in these wretched plank drifting in the ocean, we are but driftwood waiting to be planted on our destined shores before being able to grow. In the mean time, we drift as destined, as the winds oblige none but the whispers of fate.
The time shall come.
Caesar did not wait 20 years to wage a 7 year war in Gaul for Pompey to be declared Dictator. No, Caesar had no choice but to drift with the flow of destiny, to be the man who will shape the future course of Europe to what it is today.
We each have our own battles to fight, but maybe we aren't that alone after all.

What are we hoping?
What are we hoping for? It is a little over-optimistic to say that anything substantial will be achieved but do we consigned ourselves to the constraint set by others or do we strive to be more than what these people deemed us worthy?
Do the poor remain poor because of choice or are they poor because society has branded them poor and thus consigned them to be poor. I do not believe for a second that if the poor was given a chance to alleviate himself from poverty that he would not do so. If society was to extend a helping hand, to try to lift the poor soul up from the trench and dirt and to show him that there is still hope and all is not lost. I believe that he will clamour for that reach and with strength to pull himself back up.
Stories of rags to riches are awe-inspiring and we perk up our ears in earnest to listen to stories told and retold by friends, family and strangers of their adventure and journey to their current status. We return to our beds, blood flowing freely and body and mind coming as one to the thought that what happened to them, we could do the same. Then we sleep. And the next day we lose sight of what we hoped, what we dreamed. Days past and that eagerness and activity is drowned out by the sounds of the world.
What are we hoping for? That the lives of millions are not decided by the inept few. That we were allowed, to have a choice and not to merely bow and accept what seems to be and to take hold of our own lives and of our country to decide where do we want to stand. Am I consigned to be that beggar on the street hoping for cents and a miracle dollar or will I choose to stand up by myself, tall and proud, to the constraints set by myself?
I am an electorate and I have a choice.

The Bawang Fiasco
Its been almost a week after the Bawani fiasco and I've heard quite a few things about it which gave me the impression that I already know what happened in UUM. Which is why I J\just watched the video. I'm a little late with my 2 cents.
| Bawani The Mamak |
First of all, Ms Bawani's tone was impolite and at times she was shouting. I think she didnt know how to turn on the microphone or that it was already on. I do not agree with her body language and the manner/choice of words that she used. Too harsh for a public forum and shows a depressing lack of education for a University students.
Speaking up is good for Malaysians cause we tend to shut the fuck up a wee bit too often. But to speak up in the way that Bawani has, I would prefer that people who run's their mouth faster than their brain can think should just shut the fuck up. Ms Sharifah is right when she deplored that Ms Bawani needs to learn respect.
![]() |
| Ms Sharifah The Mamak |
Which is related to the 9 'listen' that everyone is talking about. You see, she was trying to speak to an undergraduate which is maybe 10-20 years her junior. But Ms Bawani just kept on rolling refusing to back down. What she should have done was to keep quiet and listen to Ms Sharifah's reply and if she is as smart as she was trying to appear from reading prepared notes on a sheet of paper proceed to formulate a riposte to Ms Sharifah's reply. THAT would earn my respect.
Malaysia do not provide free education because our education is already very cheap. And with loans from ptptn which charges a yearly interest rate of a measly 1%, poor people are more than capable of funding for their child's education. Those countries that she named are oil-rich or mineral rich countries with zero political flexibility and or freedom. Cuba? really? Fidel Castro? Venezuela's Hugo Chavez?
The thing is and I'll be honest with you. Malaysia cannot afford free education because we dump most of our money into oil subsidies. Paying RM1.90/litre when the world is paying RM3 or more /litre. Click here for a list of world prices acquried from the World Bank.
You know what. I say we should remove the subsidies, spend the billions on improving our national transportation system so that people can use it. Then the roads will be less congested and less hazardous with old cars breaking down in the middle of the road. And the spare change, we'll use it provide free education. Because government schools yearly fee of RM100+ is a much heavier burden than petrol costs.
I know because I spent 6 years in a government school paying on average RM115 per year.
Ms Sharifah however has also proven that she lack the professionalism and a mature mentality to handle sticky situations. Comparing real-human problems to problems faced by animals is just ridiculous and she could be certain that it will be taken out of context as it has happened.
Furthermore, why shouldnt we compare ourselves to nations around the world? Why should we be satisfied and just accept whatever we are given or provided? I say that we should and we need to use them as a measuring stick to see where we stand in this world and how we are going to improve on our current situation. By first knowing and identifying the areas slacking in comparison, only then can we take action.
On the political matter that Ms Bawani brought up about 'Bersih' and Ms Sharifah's strong reply. Both parties have their own views and in their respective position were both correct. However, due to the heat of the argument neither of them was able to recognize it. Yes, Bersih is legal. Yes, Ambiga is 'Pencetus Demokrasi Demonstrasi' or Igniter of Demonstration to loosely translate. Okay i'll admit, I dont know how to transalte Pencetus Demonstrasi to English. =\
Both are right, she didnt say Ambiga promoted anarchy or the cessation of government, Ms Sharifah strongly pointed out that she thinks that Ambiga incites demonstrations and in a Democratic country, the right to protest or demonstrate is enshrined in the constitution. But it is the government and not the constitution which passed the law that political gatherings of 3 persons or more is illegal.
I think they're shooting up the wrong tree.
So this fiasco has caused much kopitiam palavers that If all those engaged were to focus their minds on solving national problems such as lousy roads, rubbish clogged drains and the politically explosive topic of Water, I think we will be having much less problems than animals.

Gunung Tahan
So we are all locked and loaded. Conquering Mt Tahan from the 24th Jan to 28th Jan. The 10 of us will do in 5 days what people do in a week or more. Our adventure will begin with a 3-car convoy to Jerantut where we will spend a night before beginning this expedition.
We have decided to take the most challenging of the 2 routes. Victorians being victorians, our balls are the same size as our brains.
Merapoh-Kuala Tahan trail, easier of the 2 will take about 32km of trek with an estimated time of 15.5 hours. Too easy.
Introducin the Kuala Tahan-Gunung Tahan trail,
Total estimated distance of 53km climbing 26 peaks and crossing 7 rivers. total trek time was estimated to be 26 hours to be completed in 4 days. This is not for the faint heart or weak or unfit.

It'll cost us about RM500 per person for a minimum pax of 10. We would have to spend additional money on gear and necessary items like food and torchlights. The RM500 however is already inclusive of some 'light' food and a tent which can fit 2. As we do not know how 'light' by 'light' It could be just a piece of bread for lunch? We've decided to load our bags to the average of 20kg per person on food.
I kid.
Danny did tell us that from what he researched, 20kg per bag IS the average for all the trekkers going up Gunung Tahan. Imagine lugging 20kg of weights trekking for 4 hours at the first go. And maybe 19kg after the interval. That's no easy feat.
But talking is more losers. Now all each of us can do is train, man up and aim to reach the peak. Because we aint accepting anything less. The names of the participants:
will be exposed on my return post.

Visualizing
With a power outage for my building at work a couple of days back, I went back to my floor at Wisma supposedly to take a new pencil from my secretary but also to get some cold air over my skin. I ended up spending an hour and half back there chatting. Those seniors are rather free to entertain me.
So I was talking to this senior eng. and I have alot of respect for this fella not because he says fuck in front of me but because he appears to know what he's doing and he doesnt mind spending time with me. Although he enjoys screwing me when I work slow or take shortcuts.
I still remember his question of 10 uses for lean concrete. To be honest, I still cant come up with 10.
As we were chit chatting he asked me and a colleague what do we see ourselves in the future. Naturally I would share but I felt a tad uncomfortable out in the open. I just said the thing at the back of my head, "not an engineer I suppose, maybe in business."
Without a second pass and he told me I should get out of Technip because I'm in the wrong field. Four mths at work and im told to fuck off already. Sighhhh..... But when my colleague said he wanted to get IR. He hinted a slight disappointment and sighed why should he work so hard just for a title?
Now that rang bells around my head. Are titles really important? Or maybe a sense of fulfilment and accomplishment in your job outweighs the cost of your signature? The path that I need to tread is becoming a little clearer and maybe I'll decide to go through with it all out. It's been ages since I expired all my energy on something. Maybe my life is worth the effort. Its time to start visualizing.

Dresscode for Billboards and then what?
I recently read this on the news about another city following in the footsteps of another in implementing their advertisement ruling. It appears to be that too little fuss is given to it and too little attention spared in our busy lives. Link
The ruling by kelantan and the alor setar city council was that advertisements on billboards must display decently clad personnels and for a portrayal of a Muslim woman, she must be dress in a headscarf.
Say good bye to this
And more to
Because under the scarf is great hair that you cannot see.
It might just be me but I think these sex-ed up advertisements are one of the main causes for the increase in rape. It's not the decay of our social policies or morality. It's those damn bloody adverts!
I would suggest to the likes of Asatsu-DK and NagaDDB to just use men in their adverts. So much easier and it would do us much good to have women running around all hot and horned.
But yeah, I might be overreacting and then overcompensating for my over reaction. The truth is, I believe that we are on a spiral towards more conservatism if that's even a word. Okay, let me put it in a way that sounds better to me........ I believe that we are becoming more conservative instead of being more open and more accepting and that's a worry for me.
Billboards now, and in the future? On the roads, in the malls and everywhere else.

New Edu plan. LOL
So they are planning to launch a new education plan to revamp our education system. I think they need a revamp of their own.
At first they abolished the used the English in S&T for their own sorry pride and ego but now with the 'new' plan, the introduction of English Literature would be made into our schools. The purpose: To improve the english language proficiency and to encourage reading. You can read about it here
Can I just ask why take our something that was doing what the new thing is supposed to do?
